The famous Pier in Scheveningen is an icon on the Dutch coast. Ferris wheel on the Pier
One of the Pier's latest tourist attractions is a Ferris wheel constructed over sea. The Ferris wheel is over forty meters high and has 36 closed gondolas with air conditioning, including one luxury VIP gondola with a glass bottom. All gondolas have comfortable seats and each gondola offers room for up to six people. The calculation of the construction has taken the most extreme weather conditions into account. From the Ferris wheel visitors have a panoramic view of the sea, the beach and The Hague's skyline. Prices are

Zip line at the Pier
Visitors can zip line down the 55 meter high Bungy Tower on the Pier reaching a speed of 60-80 kilometres per hour. The total distance is 350 meters. The Zipline is suited for daredevils of all ages, but you have to weigh at least 1 kg. Zipping can be done alone, but it is also possible to do it with two people at the same time. In Spring, the Zipline is opened during the weekends and holidays from 11.00-20.00 hours. From April till September the Zipline is opened seven days a week.
Throughout the year the Pier offers festivals, cultural events, markets, kids' afternoons, educational activities and musical performances. Moreover, several events take place around The Pier, like the Fireworks Festival and the Scheveningen Kite Festival. The Pier in Scheveningen extending 400 meters into the sea with its islands was built around 1900 as a wooden promenade above the sea. It burned down in 1943, but in 1961 the Pier was rebuilt out of cement and officially reopened. Nowadays the Pier offers shops, restaurants a picnic area and sun decks, amongst others.

Scheveningen is well served by public transport and is easy to reach by car and bike. The Pier can be reached quickly by public transport. A range of buses and trams run to Scheveningen from both train stations in The Hague within 15 minutes. The Pier is a few minutes' walk from the Kurhausplein stop. Travelling by car from the A44 and A12, follow the signs for Scheveningen Bad. You will find various parking garages located in the vicinity of the Pier, including Zwolsestraat. The entrance to the Pier is on the boulevard as well as on the beach.
