Each year during the Autumn Break the international children's art festival De Betovering (The Enchantment) takes place in The Hague. Children between the ages of 2 and 12 years will be treated to some 450 performances and workshops at 50 different locations.
Ten days of dazzling culture
Festival De Betovering is the result of a unique cooperation between almost all cultural organisations in The Hague. The most enchanting children's dance and theatre performances of both Dutch and international origin, will be brought to The Hague for ten days of dazzling culture. Performances include theatre shows as well as dance, music and film. Professional artists will guide workshops where children can try their hand at dance, music, filmmaking, painting, fashion, theatre and much more. As part of a number of these workshops participants will visit a museum or gallery to look at the artwork there. Make sure to look out for the various street theatre acts in the city centre, too!
Suitable for non-Dutch speaking children
A number of performances, the daily rolling programme at the festival centre and all the dance- and visual arts workshops are suitable for non-Dutch speaking children. Check our the programme on the festival's website for further details on all activities and take note of the NDR (No Dutch Required) activities. You can also pick up a NDR flyer at the theatres in The Hague.
Festival centre... x3!
Three brothers, who love everything about being on holiday, are each building their own campsites: a big one in Theater aan het Spui catering to a wide range of tastes, a campsite for the most adventurous among us in Theater Dakota and a 1001 nights themed one in Laaktheater. Share their dream, get the holiday vibe and join in at one of the theatres... or all three!
